LOL I had to think about this! And I should know! My daughter was obsessed with King Kong, wanted a monkey for years. We watched King Kong and all the movies. So dorkus.

I've had two agents so far, and can't remember what the days are, but I have never had issues with getting paid from my agent, its more issues w getting paid from the publishers sometimes. The publishers can be slow sending money, and my agent has had to nudge them for that. I have had the option to have payments get split from publisher to me and my agent, but I run everything through my agency, because if we move, and I forget to change address or something I dont want things getting lost. It makes it easier to keep track, and my agency always emails me when payments come in and send a receipt for them. So for me this arrangement works better.

Maybe having the girl still in her room below and the Dreamland characters are looking down at her? Possibly have her in the foreground and they are visible above her with an up-angle shot? I hope that makes sense haha. Just ideas for ways to make it read easier on first viewing.

I think the ticket booth is totally cool as long as the primary concept reads though. Maybe even have the characters closer to her, looking at her pointedly? Just brainstorming.

@kirsten-mcg Yep I bounced between Children's Book Pro and the Critique, and timing vs. money won out with the critique. As soon as I can, I'll be taking Children's Book Pro. I'm still making my way through the SVS classes. I'd love to find a way to work from home so I can control my time/schedule, which I am updating my LinkedIn profile, so I can be able to focus more on art. 🙂

@Chantal-Goetheer I like how your building up your story and world. My favorite is probably the bottom one, and you could easily turn many of the architectural elements into candy. I see like gingerbread castle almost. Great job!

Hi folks, thank you to everyone for your help on this one! I ended up going with the simplest version of my concept. It turned out incredibly different to the roughs I shared with you! At a certain point I realised I'd run out of time to share progress and get critiques and just had to finish it though 😛

Did anyone else have immense trouble deciding on the colour palette for this one?! With the 2 conflicting themes I felt like I had to choose between a more gloomy palette and a more hopeful one — I ended up going with the more hopeful palette.

This image was amazing and did make it into the serious contenders group. The only reason it didn't make it into the top 16 was we felt that there is a difference between something being "lit" and something "glowing". In this case it seems lit, but not actually glowing. If that makes sense.

It's a very nit picky and small thing, but the group was SO good this time we had to come up with the criteria for what to pick.

That said, this image is freakin' awesome and should be included in your promo and on your website. I just love it!

@Sarah-VanDam I agree with what everyone else said. One more thing is that you might want to turn Kamari so that her body is facing the house instead of the bus. To me right now it looks like she's leaving the house to get on the bus and looking back at it. That's how I saw the story before I read you're description. I think the character pose you've sketched on the lower left best conveys that she's stepping off the bus and falling in love with the house.

@AngelinaKizz It definitely feels more like burlap now! I think it helps. You could also try painting a burlap texture with bigger strokes instead of just overlaying a texture. It might meld with the rest of the image better that way and take care of the issue Asya caught.

@mag Just putting in my two cents. Love your composition and color pallettes. You direct the viewer so well with light and color. So sweet.Both are winners but I'm partial to your too cute hedgehog!

@carrieannebrown I can't make out well what's on the floor so im not quite getting the story. There is one mean guy and something else. The dog looks great.
