-
@HeatherBouteneff ooh or coraline!
-
@Asyas_illos Oh good one!!
-
@Tiffany-Thomas Love the color palette!
-
@Tiffany-Thomas So, So good!! I love the layout and how the blank space carry's the story and has purpose!
-
Edited - Toned down the background color.
-
Hi everyone, here is my little traveler. It turned out very different from my WIP posted earlier. Younger, more naïve and more children book-ish... I hope you enjoy it!
-
@Asyas_illos Thank you so much! I was a little nervous to post it so I appreciate the encouragement. There's definitely some Yeti in the hair especially, haha I just had so much fun with the shape and texture of the Yeti fur it carried over a bit. (and Coraline, yes!)
@HeatherBouteneff Thank you! I should try some fan art especially since those are two of my favorite movies of all time (especially the Dark Crystal). I'll be sure to let you know if I do ;).
@Jacy13 Thank you! I was feeling a little unsure of it and actually tried toning it down with just a few pops of the red hats. In the end I decided to stick with the original color palette so it's really nice to hear you like it.
@Jeremiahbrown Thanks so much! I've been really trying to work on my story telling skills and made this one a personal challenge to incorporate as much as possible (hopefully) without distracting from the main character. I also really wanted incorporate the feel of a fairytale and I love the old fairytale book illustrations from the late 1800's, they often had decorative and elaborate boarders (I was obsessed with those as a child) so I wanted to work that idea in.

@Tiffany-Thomas
Love that you chose to use a night time backdrop. I'm not ready for that challenge yet! All very well designed. Especially like the little one in the upper right corner. -
@Zacharias-Starlid
I definitely feel that Saphra was the right one to be sent on this quest. She looks powerful and determined. Nice movement. -
@CLCanadyArts
Well thought out and you can tell you enjoyed this prompted, love all the "tools" you added as well -
@Tiffany-Thomas This is absolutely amazing! The more I look at it, the more I find such great storytelling details - great work.
-
@Larue Thank you so much! I went with the evening because I wanted to emphasize the idea of the moon and subtlety show that time is running out since the goblins are meant to raid at the "Harvest Moon". So glad you like it!
@rmwonders Thank you so much, I really wanted to try and incorporate all the elements listed in the prompt so I appreciate the encouragement!!!
-
Here is my submission! This was a really fun and creative prompt!
-
@CLCanadyArts I relate to this character a lot. Lovely work!
-
Here is my submission - my first time entering, so excited to be here! My character is based on the indigenous people of Scandinavia - the Sami people (I'm from Sweden - but I've lived abroad since 1994) They are a nomadic people living in harmony with nature and have a close connection to the magic of the forests and mountains of the north.

@emmasleight
Nice, I saw the sami influences immediately I have the same inspiration, mixing viking and sami together. Like the blue hair, it reminds me of Plupp. (a Swedish children’s book character) -
@Sara-Nilsson Tack Sara! Yes the blue hair is from Plupp My first attempt at character design - it was fun, although I immediately want to redo all of it. No time tho as I’m off with the fam on spring break tomorrow - peaked on your Insta and looove your character! So cute and I see the Sami influences. Where in Sweden are you? I was born in Stockholm and grew up in Sigtuna.
-
@Larue Thank you. I did have a ton of fun with it. At first I was stressing, but then just told myself to draw what I want, and to focus on it being for the folio. If I win, that would just be an added bonus.
-
@Tiffany-Thomas Tiffany yours is just amazing! I love the goblins in silhouette along the bottom. Beautiful work!
-
@emmasleight oh thanks I'm from piteå, small town in the Northern parts of Sweden
