Character design attempt

So I finished the gesture drawing class, and now im trying to make my way through “The Silver Way” by Stephen Silver, and also watching his videos on schoolism. He has assignments and stuff but I’m enjoying making my own character using the methods i learned from the gesture drawing class and from Stephen Silver. Come on this journey with me!
So first part was playing with gestures and silhouettes. i did a lot more prior but they were very rigid
Name: Ivan Ivanovich
Who: Young prince
Age 16
Where: Ancient fantasy land of Rus
Clothing: Royal attire, cape, hat, boots, sword, has a horse too
Look: shoulder length hair, skinny/scrawny looking teen, overconfident and spoiled.I really liked that last pose because it gave off the spoiled vibe to me
-
I then took that silhouette and did a couple of gestures with it
-
@ArtofAleksey there are a lot of super funny poses which is great if you can get it without the face expression.
-
These are looking fantastic! I love the exaggerated gloves. The gesture class quite clearly paid off.
-
@Heather-Boyd @baileymvidler thanks! Yeah i highly recommend that class. I am excited to take this character to the next phase
-
These are so fun!!! I can totally see the gesture class paid off!
My only note would be that I read these shillouettes as a mad scientist instead of a prince. I think it was a combo of the gloves, pointy gangly shapes and I thought he had goggles on in a few of them.
I haven't taken his class so not sure if that's something he goes over or if it even matters. Have you already decided on his personality or are you still exploring?
-
I gotta agree with Carlianne, the silhouette to me read as some sort of antagonist worker of some sorts, since working people wear big gloves and boots.
Which is really interesting to me. Since I too use a lot of boots and gloves in my designs too but I never thought about it like that before.

Very cool. Love how you're designing the name and interesting things about them. Along with the visual stuff.
I'm working on the first 20 gesture assignment for class. Taking forever. I've started giving myself time limits which is helping.
Looking forward to seeing more characters from you -
@Frost-Drive @carlianne ah yes. I have already designed his costume you see. And while the silhouette looks like a mad scientist I know what the costume actually looks like. But also maybe I’ll save your feedback and make a mad scientist out of this character too...2 for 1!

Great work with the silhouettes! Very expressive, even down to the hands.

@TessaW Thanks tessa!

@ArtofAleksey These. Are. Awesome!! I’m super impressed and I can’t wait to see the details for this character! Thanks so much for sharing!
