Horsebot updated concept thumbnail possibilities, please let me know what might work better?
-
Back to the thumbnail board on robot ideas. I’m kinda stuck on doing a horsebot as I drew millions of horses when I was younger so I’m feeling the horsebot idea atm.
Idea A.... Lisa is an older lady ,
B...horsie stealing ice cream from a kid Lisa
C-e variations on a bad horsebot bucking the rider off (my original idea).I’ll probably take feedback back to the drawing board with me . I’m looking mostly for ideas on which concept might be more appealing. Thanks

@Coley in combination with the text, E makes me laugh. “...until it did this.”
poor lisa. -
@burvantill ba haa lol.
I’m leaning towards the bucking robot horse idea. At current moment lol. I’m all over the place but starting some more studies for the horsebot
-
@Coley I reallylike D or E but I would have her facing out in a primal scream. Cool concept!
-
@chrisaakins thanks

I think the latter couple work best, as someone pointed out in a different post on here, you shouldn't need a caption to make an image work. Only thing is you cant see the characters face, I think that's pretty important. Also being thrown from a horse can have some pretty horrific consequences! My first impression was' I hope she can walk again after this!' Lol. Maybe draw a huge pile of horse poo for her to be thrown into or something, just a soft landing!
-
@gavpartridge thanks! Good point. Or maybe an emergency parachute. Or maybe she’s still on the horse just bounced around.
I know all about being thrown from horses unfortunately. Luckily no super serious injuries but one bad back for over a month once and possibly a concussion another time, I dont ride anymore lol. Once I had kids I just didn’t chance it anymore but I had a great pony I loved till the end of her days. -
@Coley Yeah I thought you might be from a riding background as you mentioned you used to draw loads of horses. Horses are hard to draw, so fair play to you, you've got that down! I'm scared Sh!tless of horses, i'm from the midlands in England where we just use em to pull small boats up canals! lol. Plus I work on CT scanners and saw a fair few people in a bad way after horse riding accidents. You've got more balls than I have, Its a bloody long way to fall! lol.
-
@gavpartridge it’s horrible falling lol and I’ll never ride again haha. I totally loved horses when I was younger. My pony I got at age 12 was the sweetest thing, I thought they were all that way but she was extra special. Maybe it was just the love I had for her that she responded to. I only fell off her once in27 years I had her and that was over a jump and my own fault. But she came back to me while I was lying on the ground and looked right into my face to see if I was ok. 🥰 and she had a big field of long grass she could have run off and eaten! I can still see her face looking down at me as I was looking up into the sky trying to figure out if I was still alive haha. Any other time I lost balance while riding, she would slow down. She taught a few kids to ride because she was so awesome. One little girl with cerebral palsy learned to ride on her own too. Dolly was an amazing pony. Sorry I got sidetracked on this post lol
-
@Coley Lol, no bother, It looks like an awesome thing to be able to do! Anyone that's ever had a horse seems to talk the same way. Time and money, things I've never had enough of. And balls, obviously! One day hey, never say never!

Another idea. Bad horsebot eating Lisa’s mom’s flowers.
I think I’m REALLY struggling this month with a good idea
-
@Coley I love your horse bot! Don’t give up.
What if you had the horse stick his head in through an open window to eat the flowers from a table?
-
@sarahlash oooh that’s a good idea too. I might play with that idea Thanks!
-
Another bigger sort of detailed thumb on Lisa being unimpressed that her horsebot started eating up the flowers she was planting. Feel like I’m getting closer to a better idea.
-
@Coley if you put a saddle on the horse and really scuffed up the girl like she just got thrown so he could eat that flower, this would be hilarious. Or maybe put her on the ground.
-
@burvantill ooooh that's a good idea to test out! Thanks!
-
Current ideas if anyone has feedback on what reads better and more simply? Or can you tell what’s going on in the sketches? And does it match the prompt?
Losing my mind on this month’s prompt lol. Lots of time in so far but I think it mightbe starting to pay off....so. much.to .learn!

Wow on the horse design! This would make a fun series of images. On this latest batch, what about a combo of 1 and 2? Same setting as 1, but with the girl on the ground like in 2. Same position, but maybe she's looking back a bit more at the horse? Just an idea. You've really managed to capture the mood of each character in these sketches!
-
@TessaW thanks so much. I’ll test out that idea tomorrow! I was thinking one problem with the girl on the ground was that she was looking out of the illustration so you may have solved that for me by suggesting having her turn her head back. My brain had not thought of that! Lol. If I go with that concept I might have the horse leaning more into a skid with hoof skid marks just so it looks like a sudden stop. Thanks again. I’m really appreciating the feedback.

Skid marks would be great,
