Need Your Input on an SVS Illustrator Digital Summit

  • Will mentioned one if his prior agents once, I think in a podcast. I'm not ready for an agent yet personally, but I believe she lives near me in Arden Hills, MN. I wrote her name down, but don't have it handy. If she's still working, I would love to hear from her.

  • hey @Jake-Parker you missed off Matt Saunders (illustrator) on the talk to list. Please can you add him.

  • Hey Jake - You also missed Yaoyao Ma Van As. Thanks!

  • SVS OG

I vote for the "whatever" plan and speakers Dan Santat and Tom Lichtenheld, please! Thanks! This is an awesome idea!

  • SVS OG

@Jake-Parker can I ask what the platform is that you guys use for your live meetings? Our church is trying to find a way to “meet” and people are trying to figure out how. The way you guys do it is the best way I’ve seen.

  • SVS OG

Also, I like plan A or B. I don’t know what our schedule will be like so having more than one day as an option in case we can’t make it. You guys are the best. Thank you for all you guys are doing. The extended free trial was such an awesome idea too. Hopefully some new people will find our community. ☺

  • @Pamela-Fraley, The live meetings are via Zoom

  • Wow! This is so cool! I would love any option if we can also watch recordings!
I’m not sure if I am too late for suggestions, but...

I also second Dan Santat (PS his Instagram posts lately have been awesome )
    Mark Jansen
    Oliver Jeffers

    And maybe...
    Rebecca Green
    Julia Sarda
    Kenard Pak
    Chris Sasaki
    Julie Morstad

... or maybe some of the Warren people in @Lee-White ‘s studio... I’d love to hear from Kayla Stark or anyone else from there

  • @Annaaronson came here to throw in my two cents and you listed all my favs!! 💕💕

  • SVS Team SVS OG

    @Pamela-Fraley , @Miriam is correct, we use Zoom 😄

  • sounds amazing! things is, i have my Passover festival that week actually starting the evening of 8th april so i could only manage the begining of that week, so if we would be doing plan B or C id be worried id miss it all if its in the end of the week ...althought truth to be told it might not even work in the begining of that week cuz the days leading up to passover are normally really busy! i may just rely on watching the recordings

  • SVS OG

@LisaF thanks Lisa. I was also wondering, I keep getting email invited to “become a member” of SVS so I can join the live meetings. I haven’t gotten any of the invites to the critique arenas. I don’t want to miss this but, for some reason I’m only on the promo emails instead of the member ones. Do I need to change something in my email settings?

  • SVS OG

@Jake-Parker Armand Baltazar is amazing too and very responsive and open to sharing his process on Instagram.

  • @Katie-Kordesh oh that’s awesome!!

  • @Jake-Parker Damn. If I'd been thinking I would have pitched Jeff Smith for the list.

Looking forward to seeing who comes out! Thanks for doing this.

@Pamela-Fraley We just used Zoom this past Sunday for our church and people liked it much more than a straight live stream. In fact, I was so appreciative of my experiences here on SVS: I chose Zoom to use for the church because I had seen how well it works with the critiques, and my two sisters (also in ministry) and I did a round table discussion as part of our virtual service that was inspired by the three point perspective podcast. SVS has taught me a lot more than art!

  • I vote for plan A. I love the idea of enjoying a week long online event for artists around the world. It's gonna keep me fired up for the whole week!

  • @Jake-Parker Awesome!

Plan A- It's like an excursion. If you can do it, it will be one of the best summits ever!

    Jim Madsen

    Thanks Jake.
Wishing you all good health and happiness.

  • @Jake-Parker i think thats a great idea. Ive been to a few SCBWI conferences that have been switched from in person to online. Theyve worked really well, and its given a person who lives in an isolated community a chance to learn that I didnt have before. I think if the presentations are corded its not as big of an issue, i think for you personally it might be hard to put aside time on multiple days, so id say the middle option might be best of both worlds.
