I am wondering if the patterns in the snow such as these (depicted in the picture below) could be called "tracks in the snow" as well?

I consider to paint the boy Will saw a kid skating or skiing and she is making a shape of a dragon/monster with the trails she left in the snow. But I was not sure if I misunderstood the term "tracks" (as English is not my first language).

I am Canadian and we would typically say that tracks are footprints. It would be the first thing that came to mind, however we do say tracks if we saw ski tracks or skidoo tracks! Ice skating maybe we say "marks" on the ice but if there was a little bit of snow falling on the ice, they are definitely leaving tracks! I think it would be ok as the prompt didn't say footprints, it just said tracks.

@xin-li I am a native English speaker and I would consider those tracks in the snow. They are so pretty. I'm looking forward to seeing your entry!

Now I feel more confident to wander off towards this direction for my Jan entry.

@xin-li I guess if it was obvious they were made with footprints or skis or something it would, help you to really fit the brief and be a very original approach to it too.
                What a lovely concept.

@xin-li this is what I’ve thought of as well. 😀 I guess it is. It is created by one man walking in the snow.

I think you can take liberty with the definition of tracks, and in my mind this totally works!

@peteolczyk thank you. I could paint a girl on ski and having a trail behind her for example.
@Nyrryl-Cadiz I have always admired artists who does this type of snow art. I do not know how one can do that, and what kind of thinking process it looks like. I guess that is why I connect that with something amazing and unique.
@LauraA thank you. I think I will go with the concept. I will be working on this later this month. 🙂
