Superhero Children's Book I worked on this children's book over the summer. -
Do the books have to be published after starting an SVS course? Iโm assuming yes
-
@danielerossi Well, to be honest, I guess anyone can publish a book but taking the classes makes the illustrator improve. I self publish on Amazon and the classes have really helped but, I can see a lot of places I can improve on myself. Finishing a book is a great learning tool to. You can see where you need help
-
Wow, so cool to see all these! Let's keep this thread going If you have a published children's book out in the world, or know of a fellow SVSLearn student who has one, let us know!

I have one Picture book in Norwegian came out in 2020:

The book did OK. I received my first loyalty report right before the summer holiday :-), very cool. I was also commissioned to do another book with similar concept for the same publisher. I just wrapped up the project before the summer holiday, and the book is coming out this September as well :-).

And here is another book that will also be out this September.

Personally, I have a very mixed feeling about the last book. But as Jake Parker always says "finished, not perfect".
Right now, I moved on to the next picture book which will be a non-fiction book. I am also writing my own picture book, a completely new adventure.I also did a book cover art and some interior work for a YA fantasy novel.

The book got some attention in the country, and I have seen the book poping up around in the city, and around social media and news paper/magazine reviews. It was really cool to see. Unfortunately, there is no tradition to have the illustratorยดs name on the cover (I have asked for this, but the AD said "sorry, we can not do that"). So I did not get much benefit from it apart from being happy to see the book around

Hi! This is my first post here. My brother and I self published a book on Amazon last year. My brother, a Physical Ed Teacher and Coach, wrote it and I did all the illustrations and layouts. As a long ago Art grad I knew I needed help to get to a pro level. I needed to find a place to level myself up as a childrenโs book illustrator and creator. Iโm currently taking the Childrenโs Book Pro class and Iโm blow away with how much I didnโt know. Iโm also impressed with how much more of a reality my long time goals are becoming thanks to Jake, Lee and Will.
Thank you ALL at SVS!
Eric H

This is a neat thread! I've illustrated 2 self published books. I was wondering where I might be able to find other SVS student projects.

@Blayne-Fox beautiful illustrations!
@Jeremy-Ross You've made 3 mustard books! I've been meaning to order one but didn't know there were 3! Great work!
@xin-li Just...Wow, haha -
Hello. I've illustrated books with Red Robin Books Ltd, in the UK. I've done about 12 story books with them plus a lot of educational books and a set of 25 book set for Mathematics. Then I've illustrated and designed 8 picture books for self publishing authors.
And I still havent settled on what my style is! smh
I have most of them on my website. Need to add a few that have been completed.

Hi @Jeremiahbrown, thank you for your kind words! Mustard Thinks Twice is my personal fav.

This is such a cool thread, it's wonderful to see everyone's work!! I actually just published my first book in May. It's called "The Broken Paintbrush", written by Rachel Rogers and Buddy Lieberman, and published by Hazel Grace Press. Although I still have a long way to go in my illustration work, this was really fun to work on and I'm pretty proud of it Here's to many more books!
