Superstition WIP
-
Here is my initial rough sketch of the superstition I'll do this month: "Don't step on a crack or you'll break your Mother's back!" The written words will probably change, but want to showcase space in the illustration this month for text. Will color this in Procreate and will get rid of the gutter from my sketchbook. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated! -Todd

Biblical life to live by “honour your mother and your father”, how you have laid out those walkways reminds me of the game of life. I think it’s an interesting and fun set up! I would keep playing with depth, or levels of walkway corresponding with age of your man, because you never know, whether your 7 or 37 one misstep and bang! Lols

@Heather-Boyd thanks for the comment! Yeah really emphasizing the depth and playing with the eye movement around the spread.

Snapshot of progress...
Still deciding on looks of characters. Really exaggerating the lines to correlate to the “cracks” of the sidewalks.

@artbytra I like it. It reminds me of walking home from school as a kid. Step on a crack, break your mother's back. We added: step on a line, break your mother's spine.

@Marsha-Kay-Ottum-Owen Yup! I know I played this walking to and from school waaaaay back when! Thanks for the comment

@artbytra Neat idea! I was gonna do something similar in layout with a sprawling kind of multi-charactered scene but couldn't quite make it work.
Lookin' forward to seeing more

@Braden-Hallett Thanks for the comment! Yeah I feel this has been a little ambitious but felt I needed to for missing out on these the last few months. It has been fun so far. On to character designs!
