Hello from a podcast fan!

Hello!
I'm Sarah, from Melbourne, Australia.
I'm here after listening to every episode of the 3 Point Perspective podcast, I love it so much! Lee, Will and Jake have such a great conversational style, and I really do learn something about illustration each episode. They mention the forums quite a bit so I thought I'd come over and check it out!
Am just getting started with SVS - so far I've been doing the Figure Drawing Fundamentals course with Stan Prokopenko, and really enjoying it. I would love to work in illustration eventually, but still in the early days of learning the craft. There's so much to learn. The podcast has been a great encouragement.
My own artwork so far has been mostly traditional media. I'll pop some examples below. I like working with ink and watercolours, and I'm also learning traditional Chinese brush painting. In the past I've mostly drawn things from observation - like still life or sketching. With SVS I'm hoping to learn more about story and narrative.
Looking forward to exploring the forums, seems like a really lovely community here.

Welcome, Sarah, to the Forums and SVSLearn!! I think you'll find a lot of very supportive people here, and an absence of a lot of the stuff that makes other forums a drag. Your work is lovely! I, too , am working on the storytelling side of things, and I'm pretty confident I came to the right place so far! If you have any special topics you're interested in, a quick search in the forums might render some interesting results--the folks here always have great answers and resources. Have fun!!

@Coreyartus Thank you Corey!! It does feel like a very supportive group already, and great to hear you've found SVS the right place for storytelling! Yep, I'll make use of the search function and have a browse through the archives, a great resource for sure!

Hi there, Sarah!
I actually really like that street scene as well. Was that done in watercolour and ink?
The podcast is brilliant, and like you, I was so taken with the delivery, content, and their personalities, that I had to hop over and join the forum.
I look forward to seeing your work!

Hi @animatosoor, thanks so much! Glad you like the street scene - yes, it was ink and watercolour.
I drew the outlines first in pencil, lightly on watercolour paper. Then went over and inked it with waterproof drawing ink using a small brush, then coloured it in with watercolours. I did a bunch of small drafts before doing the final piece, so that helped a lot in working out the colours and composition.
Nice to meet another podcast listener. Look forward to seeing your work too!
