The new kid on the block

Hello, I"m a retired "Industrial" Photographer/Videographer... Art School back in the 1960s (Illustration Focus) Painter as a hobby, 77 years old, looking to SVS for direction back to my roots. (A very long time ago) I'm wondering if there is anyone else out there with a similar age and background? I'm just getting started, and it looks as though this is going to be an interesting journey...

Welcome! I'm 55 with a graphic design background. I took some time (which turned into 20 years) off while raising my kids and I've just been getting back into it over the last 5 or so years. Thanks for this thread @wildlegacy . I'm happy to hear there are some other older people on here.

Another 60 year old here. Kids are finally independent, I have more room (and quiet) in my house, and was ready to delve into something more intensely, so I joined SVS six months ago. I never drew professionally but when my kids were younger, I did a number of children's books for my family. When they got to be teens, between them and my job, I had no time (or the aforementioned quiet) and had to put it all aside for awhile but it's been fun getting back into it. Welcome to SVS.

Hi there,
I’m another almost 60yr too. I did art at school back in the ‘70’s and completely agree with Will’s comment about things not taught in some classes. I’ve always loved to create but ideas seemed to get stuck at my elbow (fear of criticism ). I’ve studied watercolour many years ago, same with fashion design and millinery.
I’ve been with SVS for a few months now and am constantly astounded by what I thought I knew vs what I am learning. I wish I lived close by as I’d love to visit the studio. The SVS team are awesome and the community here is fantastic!
Cheers,
Judy
