Hey guys, we are in the planning stages here at SVS headquarters. Let me know what you guys want more of. Answer how much you want each thing by voting with a number 1-10 (10 being STRONGLY DESIRE and 1 being DON"T CARE ABOUT THAT).

1. Curriculum: This would be a guide for which classes to take and what order to take them.

2. Live/Interactive feedback: This wold be higher priced offerings with instructor feedback on your work

3. Assignments: This would be more downloadable assignments for the videos in our subscription offering.

4. Crits: Reasonably priced crits on individual images ($100 range) and full portfolio crits ($450 range)

5. Live in person workshops and classes: We have a new building now, so this may be possible. Also traveling workshops, etc.

Please list anything else you can think of to make SVS better! Your answers will guide the future of SVS, so please chime in and be heard! : )

Now I actually love the ideas for workshops and live critiques, it’s just that I’m a high school student who lives in Pennsylvania. Just take that in consideration looking at my feedback because I can imagine many students a lot closer and with money wanting workshops and critiques.

Curriculum - 5. Helpful, but I recall a forum thread where you did this as well. Probably more helpful as you grown the video library, though.
Feedback - 8, provided I could afford it
Assignments - 10. Very helpful to have a way to apply what's learned through a video.
Crits - 5, but probably because I'm not at a level to benefit much from them.
Workshops - 2. I'm not in a position to join a live workshop, nor travel to one.

One suggestion I have would be to offer a few more basic instruction classes for traditional mediums for those of us who have not been to a traditional art school.

l'd like to see more about how you set up your fine art shows where you sell your art prints and watercolour paintings. It's been great seeing how Will set up his stands at comic con events.

More writing courses with manuscript crits and some courses on Art Licensing too would be cool!

@charlie-eve-ryan we are making the licensing class right now. We just filmed the first two parts and it was awesome. The teacher of this class has been doing it for a long time and knows a ton about it.

Also, have you watched Ann Whitford Pauls class on writing picture books? She is fantastic.

What SVS is offering now is good - don't try and expand into writing, etc as there are already a great deal of sites for authors.

Our plans for SVS are having a variety of things for students. Which is showcased by your answers here. Some people want feedback, others are ok with video learning. We will be offering more interactive classes where you get feedback. In fact, we are working on a formal curriculum that basically walks you through everything you need to know to be a pro. We are still going to be making video offerings for the subscription too. We will offer assignments as an additional purchase if you want/need that for the classes. So lot's of big stuff coming at SVS!!!

I would like to see some crits for writing children's books

In the "writing Children's books" videos it is discussed how the Author who illustrates his own work can take a different approach to writing because more details can be put into the art. I would love to see a video series or third Thursday talk from people who write and also illustrate there own work.
