Wow, thanks everyone! I am delighted to have placed in the competition, and have been on cloud nine all day. To have comments and critique by Tomie dePaola is just incredible. Thanks for all the support from all of you, and to SVS, without whom I'd be nowhere.

@Rebecca-Hirsch Congratulations! It's such a fun, expressive piece. Now I'm wondering after reading Tomie's comment... so how much does your character look like how you would've looked as a kid?
-
Congratulations, well deserved
-
@DanetteDraws Pretty close, actually. Ash blond ponytails, a brown corduroy jacket with bell bottomed jeans and sneakers (well, it was the 70's after all). Jumping off my swing pretending to fly was something I did on almost a daily basis. We had pointy winter hats back them, stood up like a cone on your head, ha. I could've bumped up the corduroy color a bit and gave it some texture. Something to think about.
-
@Rebecca-Hirsch haha nice! Now that you mention it, I definitely see the 70's influence. In that case, I don't think there's much you could do to make it look "more you" as a kid
