Alligator Jamming - Quick Piece
-
Hello! I've been pretty absent on here recently (the hussle and bussle of life, bleh) but I have managed to get out a few new, small pieces. Below is my first rendition using my normal old method of drawing, and the second is the same piece but playing around with new gouche brushes for photoshop. Comments or feedback are always appreciated.

@linrendoodles Nice drawings:) I think the second one is fine but the occlusion needs to be a bit darker and there needs to be a bit more cast shadow from the guitar on his body and arm. I love the little bird super cute.

@evilrobot Thank you for the reply! I agree, I'm bad about pushing my shadows. I need to get comfortable with going darker.

I also like the second one, i like the soft lines. I am also afraid to push shadows sometimes. The method that I found to work best is to use a multiple layer and use a soft cool blue/gray color. Then add a overlay layer with white for highlights and then another multiple with a dark blue/gray to push the shadows.

@Chip-Valecek Thanks for the tip! It actually helped a lot in a seperate piece I was working on.

Here is an update... pushed the shadows a bit more... added some highlights.
