Hey guys, I haven’t been drawing much lately, and I’m late in the game for this contest, I’m still new to drawing and feeling kind of not that great about it lately, but I’ve been trying to do some sketches on this months, but not really getting anywhere?

This is a cute character, and a really good idea way to show a lucky kid. Clear and simple.
If you are looking for a way to improve it, I'd suggest changing the viewing angle so we're closer to the store, seeing the expressions on the locked-out people, and having the lucky boy just a few footsteps out the door. -

@Lana This is a fun idea, and your sketch is good, very readable. I think you might focus on the story first, and how you would express it in an interesting and powerful way, and really push the idea and feeling of luck. For example, this kid is thrilled that he got the last ice cream, and you've got two adults standing looking at the closed sign. The feeling I get from their poses is "oh well, I guess it's closed". But what if there's a long line snaking around the building? Then you could also include other kids showing various forms of disappointment and annoyance, maybe envy. Maybe you could show that it's a hot day and the ice cream is starting to melt, so the kid is eating it, and other kids are drooling. Or maybe you could appeal to our hearts, and have the kid sharing the ice cream with someone, or gifting it to someone who could really use it. There's lots of potential here for story twists and angles. For me, I think that a really good story should come first, and the drawing second.
