June prompt: Albert, the anarchist boar
-
Hi, everyone
It has been a long time since last time I took part in the monthly challenge. I could not resist with this fun prompt. I wanted to go with something "cute and x". I was not sure what that "x" will be when I started, it ended to be something like this.I do not draw animal characters very often, would love to hear feedback/critiques.
I am not sure if I would have time to finish the piece - it was a fun excise to come up with this guy based on the prompt.
-
@xin-li I like where you're going with him. He makes me happy.
-
Well...I think you should draw them more often, I think he's great. Looks like some kinda trouble to me!
-
@xin-li hehehehe adorable
-
Love it. It's like the evil peppa pig
-
Heβs so cool! I love him, and - I know it might be the sketch, but the contrast between the gray tones of him and the painted strokes is great!
-
@ajillustrates thank you so much.
@Larue I need to come up with stories that making sense to have animal as main character :-).
@Nyrryl-Cadiz thank you!
@Gary-Wilkinson I must have watched all peppa pig several times during the lock down time. I have a 4 year old home.
@mag thank you. i think I might keep one color tone for the pig, and keep the contrast with the colourful paint. I like that aspect of the drawing as well.
-
Love him! He looks so mischievous!
-
He's great. His expression makes me have a narrative in my head saying "Oh Albert, what have you done this time?"
-
I always struggle drawing character turn around. This was a really good excise. Here is my attempt so far to get different pose looking right for Albert.
Do you guys think the angle E, F can pass as "neutral post back, 3/4 view"?
Right now I feel the character drawing is not quite consistent yet. which pig does really off? which pig is your favourite one (I try to pick one pig, and adjust the rest pose based on the one)?
-
@lizardillo thank you. hehe.
@ruth glad to hear that :-). -
I am so obsessed with this design!! home run
-
@xin-li So cute! A, D, E and H are my favorites.
The consistency seems pretty good to me so far, but the forehead on C and D might be protruding more than I would expect based on the other sketches (getting nit-picky, though). I'm not really sure what to say about E and F being neutral poses--they look good to me, but they might be pushing it a bit. So if you're worried, you might pull them back a little.
Looks great so far! Looking forward to see him finished!
-
@Katie-Kordesh thank you so much. I always get a lot more excited working on non-client projects.
@miranda-hoover thank you so much for taking the time to check with consistency. I will work on the C and D. Not sure if I will manage to finish on time. I am really slow when drawing characters. hehe... But I could make a fun summer digital postcard with this character. Maybe! -
@xin-li Hope you can make it in time! A digital postcard would be adorable, too. Good luck!
-
Progress so far :-).
I do not think the character consistency is to the spot. I could have spent more time to polish that. But I really love the process of making the final art for this. I made the drawing with pencil, and coloured it digitally. Which version do you prefer, the grey pig, or the brown pig? -
Hi @xin-li, nicely done! I like the brown pig, but both are great!
-
I love him, he's so cute but obviously gonna cause some problems.
-
@xin-li I like the brown colour. I think it compliments with the paint (if that makes sense)
-
@xin-li They are both nice, but I like the brown one better.
