Hey fellow (aspiring) artists! Taking a stab at the hidden challenge with this piece. Pretty straight forward monster hidden in the closet from the kid he’s scared of. Not sure if the concept is too simple or the composition to obvious. I wanted to prominently show the monster (protagonist) and design a shot that would let me play with perspective and deep dark shadows nad highlights (from the TV late at night). Just curious on general thoughts on the main composition or if it feels too “easy”?

@pagurcia I love your monster and his/her's expression. I think if you develop characters that resonate with your audience and finish the piece well I don't see the concept "easy" as you put it.
Composition isn't a strength for me but maybe play around more with it, as composition will aid in understanding what part of thee story you are telling. From this stand point, your work maybe working up to a climax, anticipating how the human and the monster interacts when they meet, if they meet. You could flip the story or even add to the "easy". The boy is revving up confidence to take on his monster in the closet but instead finds that the closet is where the monster sleeps in his/her own bed and is actually terrified that the boy will come and frighten him/her.
Anyways have fun with it and tell the story you want.

@pagurcia your monster is adorable and so expressive. Love it. The only thing I noticed is that the Kid seems very far away... maybe too far for him to just be on the other side of a room or even a hallway... unless the house is huge.
@heather-boyd thanks! I played with some other compositions and perspectives but over the shoulder from the closest told a better story (I felt) since the protagonist here is the monster and his is the story I’d like to tell. Also provide more options for big color differences and lighting/shadows.
@pamela-fraley great point! Also made me think the kid giving has back to the closet might be better too!
Got some comments about the monster looking to similar to the Monsters Inc. orange monster so changed him up a bit. Also playing with some colors and lighting to set the mood.
Colorized the original monster for kicks to see if it differentiated enough from the Monsters Inc.
Realized i never posted the final image here. Process video later!

@pagurcia You have some fun details that I enjoyed, like the floppy socks! I liked the warm lighting in the room and the coolness of the closest. You nailed a worried look for the monster. One thought I had was to add an image to the TV, so we know what the boy is watching that is so exciting to him.
