Riley Character Design Help!

@jenn @Asyas_illos @AngelinaKizz Thanks so much for the feedback! You all were right about the mask--moving his goggles to his head helped a lot. I also grew his arms a bit more.I've also been reminded that 3-toed sloths don't have 4 fingers so I'm going to try experimenting with that a bit...

@miranda-hoover he is cute, great character design!

@miranda-hoover so excellent! his personality really comes through

@miranda-hoover I don't think sloths have that many teeth.
Usually, they have their mouths shut, but in photos I've seen with the mouth open, I can only seecanines.
Quick search: " They have relatively few teeth; they lack canines and incisors, and only possess five upper and four lower molars."
(3 Toed Sloth skull) http://www.digimorph.org/specimens/Bradypus_variegatus/
https://slothconservation.org/8-facts-about-sloths-skeleton-anatomy/If yours is a 3 Toed Sloth, you might want to add more neck.
Also, I think the nose shape is more flat (but still rounded) & blends into the snout. The mouth & nose are all a dark color & blended together with a shape that curves outward at the corners of the mouth & often makes them look like they are smiling. So you might consider changing the snout area to more of a rounded diamond shape.

@miranda-hoover This is looking great! Checking out sloth images on google i am thinking that the most important slothyness cues for me would be no space between the upper lip and the nose, a very large nose, wide set tiny round eyes, almost no cheek from a 3/4 view, dark muzzle that makes the mouth look wider than it really is and insanely long but strangely limp claws.... i think the no space between upper lip and nose feels most important to me though. Miriam mentioned the nose and mouth blending together too now that i am scanning the previous comments. Very cool image! I'm sure it will be awesome when you are done.

@miriam & @Kevin-Longueil Good call! Thanks for the feedback! I added in some of the changes you guys suggested and might work a bit more on the snout if I have time.
I did some experimenting with the 3 fingers, but no luck so far But both Sid and Flash have thumbs, so if I don't have time to figure it out, I won't feel too bad, lol.

@miranda-hoover When I was searching previously, I saw something online that said they found a 3-toed sloth that had 4 toes, so it has happened at least once (if that source was correct).
So there's your justification if you keep it with four.
-
@miriam Hahaha, that's perfect! Thanks
-
@miranda-hoover It's looking good. I think using long strokes for shaggy fur when you add the texture / details will really help define him as a sloth, too.
I love all your details around the garage in the 2nd image. (I'm not good βat all β at drawing technical items like pipes, gadgets, & machines!) I hope image #3 is a crop to focus on the changes for your character & all the background stuff makes it into the final. -
@miriam Yep! That stuff made it in. Thanks so much for your help
