Slowvember 2020
-
Here is a place you can share the piece you are working on all of November for Slowvember. Feel free to post different stages all throughout the month (including starting by just sharing what you'er planning to do). Haven't heard of this art challenge? Here is a little description:
While Inktober is about making a new image daily, Slowvember is about quality and getting something you really like. Maybe it's a new portfolio piece. Maybe it's a painting you have been thinking about for a long time. Maybe it's time to stretch your skills with a new kind of paint. Whatever the case, we want you to take your time and make something that you care about. The idea is to spend the entire month of November making a piece you are really proud of, one you can put in your portfolio!
Good luck this month!

Looking forward to this haha.

This is my cup of tea. I just got started on this. I'm going make this a procrastination free month.

Here’s a piece that is so slow I started it in October for the Inktober prompt “float” but it never got beyond the sketch stage. I’d like to see what I can do with it so maybe I’ll make it my Slovember project. [They are supposed to be young flying squirrels doing flight training.]

@AustinShurtliff Hi all, I really like the the idea of Slowvember. I have a project which I've abandoned in October and I am starting it again. My mission is to finish it this month. It is a picture book project for my portfolio and because it is a multiple image project it is fitting just right for Slowvember but I definitely will follow Lee's advices and hopefully I will finish it by the end of the month. Slowvember will be my motivation to work on it and not to waste my time in other stuff.( Fortnite mostly )
Good luck everyone with your projects. -
@demotlj This is such a fun idea, I like your composition. Waiting for the next stage.

I am working my way through the book, 'Creating Characters with Personality'. It describes a set of characters that you are to create. I plan to create an illustration with a couple of my characters.

Love this!
I may try my hand at creating a mid-grade-interior-style piece featuring reimagined Sherlock Holmes/Dr. Watson characters

I am having trouble adding an image to my comments in the threads, trying to add from my photos. I select the photo icon but it just inserts some quotations and parentheses? Any ideas...

Something different. I decided to fix the business side of art for Slowvember. Make a website and improve my client onboarding process to make future projects easier haha
I'm quite chuffed with how the online folio has turned out. Will tweak it a bit more as I go along

I think I am done! I wanted to make a piece, which will help me discover my style. I got to know, that I like happy, I like colourful and I like when its a bit funny. I have done it in illustrator and rendered in photoshop.

Very cool @aska, love the feeling of motion in the piece.

I felt inspired to create a Christmas card for Slowvember 2020. Every year I want to send out a promotional piece to clients for Christmas and every year I find reasons why I can't do it. The Slowvember 2020 call to action was the perfect fit for me.
I love illustrating wintery snow scenes with lights in them. I also have felt a tad emotional at times about the state of affairs in the world, in particular, the US, thus I felt called to illustrate a scene with a hopeful message of unity, bringing light into dark times. Those thoughts primarily went into the process of creating my piece. I have put together the different stages of my illustration until its completion. -
@Jeremy-Ross thank you so much i put a lot of work into it and in the end i wasn't sue if its any good. So really thanks!

Hi @AustinShurtliff, sharing my 2020 Slowvember piece in the group post.
I really enjoyed taking my time through each stage, brainstorming, thumbnails, rough comp studies, sketches, color studies, rendering, textures and icing on the cake, or should I say cereal?
This lesson in slowing down helped me sleep on decisions rather than trying to finish the piece. Since I work full-time in engineering and construction, I use any available time after hours to work on my craft.
As ancient wisdom, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
