Ipad Drawing Board Solution
-
The reason for this topic is short and sweet... how do you draw on your iPad from a comfort point of view? I get it when you drawing on a desk but what if you draw on your lap or in bed, do you use any special stands or drawing boards?

I’m very, very guilty of working on my couch in front of the TV!
I really adore this case I found on Amazon:
The Muse Case - 2018 iPad Pro 12.9 inch 3rd Gen (Old Model) - Very Protective But Thin + Convenient Magnetic Stand + Sleep/Wake Cover by ZUGU CASE (Purple) (Model #’s A1876, A2014, A1895, A1983) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q5FPQZB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_TQzbFbCSD94ANIt’s got any angle I need and more. I usually combine this with a firm memory foam pillow in my lap, or I’ll be super bad and sit with my back to the armrest and my legs folded up and rest it there. The pillow definitely isn’t as stable as my desk, but it does the job!
If you want something more stable, but a little less portable, a friend of mine uses this cool little lap desk thing. It’s a little wider than the width of her lap and has feet where it rests on the couch. She uses that in conjunction with the same case I have. I’ll bug her in the morning and see if she remembers where she got it!

@korilynneillo Wow that looks nice, do you have it on your lap? Also, I see it does not support 2020 models

@korilynneillo this one looks pretty good though as an alternative https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FYO0KIS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
what really looks nice but too expensive is something like this....

I have a Zugu case as well. I’m sure there are models from zugu that support 2020 models. It’s a great case . I put mine on my lap, sometimes on an angle with the magnetic kickstand if I need the angle. It’s not raised up though (ie it’s still on your lap) so sometimes I still use it flat. It’s pretty stable with the kickstand. It wasn’t cheap. But it was worth it! The side of the case that folds against the screen is on your lap when drawing tho. So I am careful to not get it dirty. Not much of a problem but I have a dog so his hair gets all over it sometimes haha

@Geoffrey-Gordon when in bed, I just prop my back with a lot of pillows and put the ipad on my lap.

On the desk, I use this thing: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077KNFHDD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 because I like to have it elevated. It helps me keep my back straighter, instead of hunching over it.
On my lap? 1-2 pillows. Very advanced technology.

Thank you @Nyrryl-Cadiz , @Coley, and @baileymvidler for the feedback, I found a simple lap desk at my local store that fits the bill, originally for laptops but works perfectly for an iPad.

Greetings Geoffrey,
I spotted this device, called a Sketch Board, on Instagram. It's a little pricey, but I couldn't find anything that does exactly this, at this quality. It's basically a miniature, adjustable and portable drafting/drawing desk that goes on any desk or lap and puts your drawing angle at the right position. They're expensive, because they aren't mass produced.

After several months (and an online discount), I broke down and bought one. Overall, I love it. However, it's not as portable as I thought. The solid wood which makes it so durable, also makes it a bit heavy and it only fits in my big messenger bag. The magnet page 'stop-stick' at the bottom holds paper, thin sketchpads and my iPad, but struggles with a heavy/thick sketchpad.
