Including background - Feedback Welcome

Hi everyone, I'm brand new here and have been listening to the podcast for a few months. I usually shy away from backgrounds because they seem pretty scary, I know I need to get over it, so this is my first real attempt at a background. I used dip pen and ink. I was torn because in my head, a forest gets darker the deeper you get, but I also heard/read that usually the background gets lighter...soooo I went with lighter but still learning so would be grateful of any feedback! Thank you

Your illustration is cute! I think both situations happen just depends on The lighting and thickness of the forest, but more importantly it depends on what feeling you want
