Shopping for a printer/scanner please help
-
Hi all, I am in the market to purchase a printer/scanner. I especially need it to capture high quality true to color scans. I work in watercolor. I would love your recommendations and experience. TIA

I have the Epson v550. It's an easy-to-use workhorse that's good at capturing both color and detail in traditional art, so I'd definitely recommend it. The software it comes with allows you to make in-depth adjustments to the image before you scan it, which is a real time-saver if you're scanning a lot of things! It's also not terribly expensive (I got mine on sale on Amazon for ~$170).

@A-G-Meade Awesome thank you so much!

@A-G-Meade Just purchased arrives Monday, thanks so much! Quick question can it scan larger items in two phases and seam? Thanks!

I'm excited for you! I'll bet it will be a good one. I have the Epson V39, which has a lower resolution and not as many bells and whistles. I've had it since November and I'm very happy with it. It feels lighter and more cheaply made than they did years ago, but it was also less expensive. it was very easy to set up and it's quick and easy to use. I love it!

@lmrush Awesome! I hope that it's a great fit for your work. As for the scanning larger items and seaming them, I don't think it can do that (but I also haven't tried - just don't recall seeing that option in the program). But it's got such great color consistency, I would think combining files in Photoshop will be super fast.

@A-G-Meade It might be able to, because mine can. It comes with special software to seam images together. It says right in the Amazon info for the V39. If it doesn't maybe you can purchase software like mine has to do it.

Thank you @A-G-Meade and @deborah-Haagenson I am beyond thrilled with this scanner. Look how it captures watercolor-that is really hard to do. The accuracy is spot on, thanks again

@lmrush Fantastic!!

Oh my gosh! That looks fantastic - the texture and color really came through so well! So glad that it's a good fit for you @lmrush. Cheers and happy drawing!

@A-G-Meade I have had so much trouble over the years trying to get an accurate depiction of my watercolors. The price was so reasonable and the quality totally exceeds the price. I am sooo happy!!! THX

@lmrush I know this thread is old, but I'm wondering, are you still happy with the scanner? Did you figure out a way to scan larger items in two phases and seam?
