Hi Judy.
Skin can be really hard to get looking right but I might suggest given how bright and saturated the rest of your images are maybe adding things like more rosy cheeks or saturated freckles might be interesting? You have a bit at the moment but it is very subtle compared to your bright painterly style on most things.
Overall I think they are already looking lovely.

May or may not be helpful, but if you search online for makeup colors (foundation), you can find a nice sample of different skin colors without the distraction of looking at a photograph of a person (too many details). Might help you to make color choices more easily.

Day7/100. -
These are so cool!
Love the feel of them. Just wondering, I love your colour combinations, so you go into it know what colours these are going to be, or do they sort of decide for you? They're very tasty.

@Sophie-Lawson Thanks so much Sophie. Good question. When I start colouring I choose one main colour and work around that colour adding analogous colours. For example if the fairy is mostly pink then the details will be the colours closest to pink on going around the colour wheel. With pink you can go to red, orange and yellow which are warm or the cooler route with purple, blue. When I have most of the colour on the canvas I love to add some unexpected pops of completely different colours. There is so much to experiment with!

@Kat Thanks Kat! This is a brilliant idea.
-
@CukiArtist Thank you! Absolutely, I think I can push the freckles and rosy cheecks, the fairies will probably start looking even cuter. Also I started adding some green and blue to their ears with sparkles to make them more fairylike.
-
@Kristina-Hunter Thank you Kristina. Yeah, I'd love to see your fairy illustrations! Exactly, with 100 I'm sure I will get a good feel for working with skin tone which has been something I would love to get better at. Let me know when you do a fairy illo!
-
@Braden-Hallett Right? I think I need to also work on shade and highlights which will give more form. It's a fun project so far!

Day 19/100. Since I found my love for drawing for children I realised how much I actually have to draw everyday. It can be a page of pencil sketch characters in a sketchbook or working digitally on a picture book illustration for a story I wrote or lately editing a picture book text. I have to work on something of my own or I just feel not like my myself. So I do something almost everyday then I feel like I am on the right path and continuing to have a positive focus I think as an artist and also in everyday life. Art is a good friend for life. -
