Book cover design

Hello everyone! First post and I'm hoping to get some feedback on this cover design I'm working on. I included an example of what the rest of the pages look like for reference. This is the concept and font that the author and I agreed on. Should I add one or two of the animal characters from the book? Any critiques are welcome!

This is really cute, the colors pop nicely and the action is good. I'm a bit concerned that the text is crowding your main character too much. Maybe adjust it to give him a bit more room.
