I asked my 10 year old what she would do in a mushroom village and she didn’t even hesitate, “play hide and seek!” So, here it is. Hide and seek in the mushroom village. I should have done the whole thing bigger. Sorry if it’s a bit blurry. It’s watercolor, colored pencil and cut paper. No digital because I don’t know how.

I woke up this morning to a notification that I was about to miss my chance to do a mushroom village for an SVS contest, so I decided to dedicate today's painting time to creating this. The location is actually something I can use in a later book, on the next continent Angelica and Dylon visit and it matches the local of some similar illustrations I have lined up, so that was an exciting case of synchronicity.

Hi! Here is my entry for this month.
The back story- Mushroom Village was home to many little insects. Whenever a new flower bud was about to bloom, it would glow with light of life. In that light, one of the insect would play music, to welcome the birth new flower. The rest of the inhabitants would listen the music and enjoy all night long.
Thank you for continuing to host monthly contests! This is such a great way to practice for deadlines and create new portfolio pieces consistently.

I wanted to do a piece that would be a small step towards one of my larger goals: make my own comic book. I still have a lot to learn and practice, but it was a lot of fun making this little comic page. Hopefully y'all get a small laugh from it in some way!
