First steps into digital paint. Princess Mittenz WIP
-
I'm trying to develop good habits as I learn to paint digitally. I'm trying to completely flesh out the values (and really get those details in) before I add any colour. I'm really liking how it's working out, but any suggestions so far?

That Looks really Great, I Love The idea. I am doing it The same way with The Value and Color it at The end.
There Seem so many ways to do it digitaly. My octopus was actually The First Piece I really finished digital in Color.
I Would Love to See your further steps with your Image -
Looks great! I'm also a newbie to digital. In traditional art I always worked out the light and shadow stuff in preliminary sketches but never painted over them as they were in sketchbooks and not directly on the canvas. The fact that digital makes it possible to experiment with layers and then choose to use or not use the under-drawing is truly a blessing of the modern age. Your skills are outstanding. Looking forward to seeing the progress.

You've got a good start but don't forget to do lighter values as well to make the image more dynamic. Adding in some darker values might help that contrast and make it even more interesting.

Thanks! I'll post progress pics as it progresses.

Thanks for taking a look!
I think actually identifying value is one of those skills I'm still really developing. My brights need to be brighter, and my darks need to be darker (except when they don't, but that's the problem, isn't it? XD)
