Hello!
I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself. My name is Julie Peel, I live in Colorado Springs with my husband and 4 kids. I have been exploring the classes for a while, but I have so many questions that the time has come to be brave and start utilizing the forums, contests and artist feedback. So here it goes!I have taken an nontraditional path to where I am. Being practically minded, I graduated college with a Math Education degree and taught middle school for a short time before I became a mother. Art has always been in the back of my mind, however, so I have tried to take every opportunity that has come to grow and learn. The most formal of which was about 5 years of private painting classes. I have done local art shows, small commission pieces and even started a comic (https://www.facebook.com/Wundersplat).
I am not sure exactly where I want to end up in the art world, but I love learning, and storytelling and humor. Literally hundreds of hours of read aloud as a mom has given me a strong leaning towards children's literature. Because I have taken such a round about path, I know I have some strengths as well as holes in my training, but I am so looking forward to sharing with and learning from you! Thank you!

@juliepeelart I checked out your cartoons and love them! They are so true to life. Most of my drawing over the past 20 years has also been cartoons of my kids (and dogs) but they are all in college now (well, not the dogs) so I have no more source material which is why I started with SVS. I needed something to keep me drawing. Welcome to the forum. There are a lot of great people here!
