WIP watercolor building (about halfway done), comments and thoughts welcome.

Trying to loosen up with the watercolors. I watched Lee Whites tutorial the other day. I thought I would try and apply what I could to this painting. This is a commission so I don't have too much flexibility. Although, he's not too picky. I'm about halfway done with the building. The background trees and foreground shadows still need to be placed.

Overall this is looking nice. One thing I noticed is that in your reference the light on the left is much brighter but you have painted over your white paper, to me it is the white areas that really make a watercolor landscape work well

@rcartwright I probably should've left a little more white. The blessings and curses of watercolor, can't add the white back. Next time I will have to be more careful. It's been a while since I have done something that is this representational. I got lost in the details.

@whitney-simms You may already know but I would like to suggest a youtube channel about watercolor: Steve Mitchell's The Mind of Watercolor:

Here is the final painting. I am kinda happy with how it turned out.
