Help with finishing
-
This is a two page spread, text will be at the bottom of both pages I am struggling with how to do the ground and if I should change colors or darken or lighten any other portions of the painting- All suggestions welcome. I always feel that if I like my sketch then I usually will ruin it in the painting stage

The problem I see is the dog and the horse almost blend together. Maybe one of them needs to be a different colour?

@Jason-Bowen Thank you yes I see that now

@lmrush Glad my observation helps.

This is a great practice. Watercolor is so easily muddled if overworked but your red truck has nice textures. I always find it challenging to work with. Your little guy has a sweet expression although you might reconsider the composition. If this is a double spread, the horse will be right in the gutter so that might not be the best option. The chickens are a little hard to read as they are close in color too. It's a sweet concept so I hope you continue to work on the design. Cheers!

This is really cute, I love the truck and the characters. I really like the light ground you have but I am partial to leaving white spaces. I think it would be great to add some more chicken feed to the ground to add a bit of scattered texture and establish the farm scene more.
I put a few quick notes on the pic below. Just things to consider for the overall design. Also I agree about the pup and the horse blending. This is really sweet and I love the blue barn against the red truck. Hope that helps and I can't wait to see the final!

@Charlie-Eve-Ryan Also if you do add a hen in motion beware of the gutter line you may need to shift more left then what I have above.

@Charlie-Eve-Ryan Wow the hen running is so fun!!! Thank you!
