Hi all in svs land
Looks amazing! Just a few questions...As an online study provider,can people do as many/few modules(lessons)as they wish?has anyone paid in installments? Am pursuing my lifelong dream of being an illustrator,need to gain specific skills.online option maybe just for me,can wk and so do this...svs looks great,came by here after searching and finding Terry ! All responses,tips,experiences of using svs gratefully received and appreciated -
I just resubscribed for another year and I have found SVS to be a great resource to refine my skills and learn new ones. They put out new videos monthly and work hard to have them be relevant to what is happening on the creative fields. Plus they host a 3rd Thursday prompt each month which gives you the opportunity to submit artwork that has the chance to be critiqued by either Will, Jake or Lee. If you are actively pursuing a career in Illustration, then you can't go wrong by joining SVS - great resource and a really wonderful community of artists.
ALSO- I would recommend the Children's Book Class if you are looking to get into that area of illustration - I have watched/listened a few times already and really enjoyed it.

Oh, I can't tell you how much the classes of SVS are worth. Of course you have to do the hard work yourself, but svs has inspired me, supported me and helped me to be more confident. good luck and hope to see you and your work here! Good luck!

@bluesky71 Welcome Jennifer!
I personally pay on a monthly basis and have gone through almost all the classes (you can check out all the classes if you're on a subscription without further payment). But I keep revising them and with the amount they discuss on each course, you will find something new every time you go back. -
Thanks guys,very helpful.soo,do u guys agree that even though svs is in usa,students from other places can benefit just as much,wat I'm saying is that the classes and instructions are relevant for anyone...also are you encouraged to develop your own visual style rather than a hse style?
-
@Nauba...subscription or other? Wats better value for money....don't have a lot of the green stuff at the moment
-
@bluesky71 Hi there and welcome! I'm also from the UK, I've been subscribed for a year now and I think SVS is one of THE best things that has ever happened to me art-wise.
Yes the classes are relevant for anyone around the world, they help you to get the skills in place to develop your own style and make it better...whether it's lighting, anatomy, basic drawing skills, colour etc...you can choose which ones you think you need and work through them at your own pace. There are a lot of different artists authoring the classes...Will, Jake and Lee being the main ones - but others too - they all have their own styles and skills and bring different things to the party.
I'd definitely get a subscription (personally I have a yearly one), it's the best value as you can access all of the classes and try them out at the same time. Hope that helps
