November 2024 Submissions - How To Fix Your Art

@ArtistErin Great illustration! It would be nice to have a little more messiness in here- maybe some batter dripping off the bowl, a few spots on Dad's apron and gloves, and a bit on the kidβs t-shirt. Right now, itβs a little unclear what Dad is doing with the oyster, so those extra details could help. Nicely done overall!

@Yogita-Chawdhary Thank you Yogita!! I will add some mess! That helps alot. He's supposed to be cooking a seafood spread but doesn't know what he's doing. I wanted it to be a weekend with Dad, one kid is playing with the food, one is disgusted by the smell. Maybe the mask prevents the idea that Dad is clueless in the kitchen. As I am writing here I need to add Mom coming home from work in shock to see the smelly mess! Feedback is golden Thanks again!

@Jacob-Davenport Love this!! Really fun concept. I appreciate the expressions of the frogs. Classic fine dining experience, quietly judging others when you could just mind your own business

Here's my submission for this month! I wanted to do a story about sharing foods between cultures, going carnivore vs. herbivore on this one. I think the story is coming across okay, I like the characters though. I ended up being 7/10 happy with how this one came out, still a win in my book!
Thanks to @mag for help with fixing up the composition!

This is my first time submitting for HTFYA (hope I did it correctly ). I love the variety of submissions and I look forward to getting some new perspectives!

Playing with composition a little more and building in more story! It's getting a little busy and my eyes are twitching I've been looking at this too long. Time for a break!

I decided to make another version of this picture from a different angle so that the frog and the food (worms) are more clearly visible. I thought a more subdued color scheme would fit here, capturing the mood the princess has as she looks at the frog.

@ArtistErin I love the extra layer of story added on this iteration! For the kiddo in green, at first glance I thought she might have been sitting on top of the flour bag, would it be possible to move her up or down a bit to avoid that tangent?
-
@Jeremy-Hamann Yep! Thank you! Now playing with lighting and using warm colors to further drive the eye to where I want people to look... I'll post another update soon! This is more fun now, I am glad I shelved it last night so I can see with clearer eyes
-
@ArtistErin love the changes. Looks great
-
@ArtistErin just noticed a tangent so that it looks like the little girl is sitting on the flower. Maybe move her away a bit? Otherwise love the storytelling. The crab

@Julia-Hegetusch Thank you! I love the crab (or lobster? LOL) too! My sister used to go Crawfish hunting, and this was a nightmare for me once we got home, to hear their scream in the boiling water... yeah that one marked me for life... π₯΄
I am thinking this is done Love the feedback you guys! You know when you are looking at something so long you can't see anymore? I might've done that on this one
-
Done! Thank you for helping me see tangents and helping me with storytelling, I am happy with this piece now.

@AustinShurtliff Hi Austin! It's been a minute since I entered a piece for the livestream! I posted a few revisions here on this thread, just making sure you see the most recent one I posted today is my final version. Sorry for the confusion if I caused any! Thank you so much
