Building up my portfolio.

Halloween is coming -
Took a break from my other projects to make a Barbie print. Not sure wether convention goers like barbie or not but i'll find out...
-
Another lunchtime sketch of a tree. Just getting messy with graphite, it's a good way to spend a lunch.

I am attempting to actually follow through and get familiar with Clip Studio. I just keep putting it off and I need to stop doing that. So I'm committing to at least doing at least something each day in CSP so I can get used to the tools.
My first piece trying specifically to replicate my comic style process. It feels so clunky at first ugh. Learning new software is rough lol.
-
@jdubz this is soo cute
-
@jdubz The learning curve for new software can be frustrating, but good for you committing to it. The process might feel clunky but end result doesn't look it! Super cute and fun image.
I haven't used Clip Studio. What drew you to it? Are there advantages over Procreate or Photoshop?
-
@Sara-Therese-Art I've just been using photoshop for like 20 years, so it's the most comfortable software I can work in. I just know every part of it top to bottom. I think compared to Procreate though Photoshop has gotten pretty far behind. Procreate is solely a drawing program so that's not all that shocking really.
Clip Studio is similarly a pure illustration software. The brushes to me feel a lot more dynamic like what I'm getting with Procreate.
Clip Studio, from a graphic novel/comic perspective, is a massive time saver. Flatting out characters, comic panels, word balloons - all these things take forever in Photoshop comparatively. That's the main thing I'm switching for - those workflows would take easily 2x as long in Photoshop.
-
2nd piece. A character I've been working on for a story I am planning on putting together that I hope to get some headway on this year.
-
@MerryMary Thanks
-
@jdubz Thank you for this explanation! Makes sense. Like you, I've been using Photoshop for a loooong time (started with CS2 when it came out ) and because I'm so comfortable, I tend not to branch out. But I did teach myself Procreate and Rebelle 6 this year and I'm so happy I did. These two programs are now about 80% of my workflow!
-
And another lunch tree sketch. These tend to have to happen fast but it makes it kind of fun seeing how well I can capture it in 30-40 minutes.
-
my current WIP mash up fan art of two different shows/movie
-
BOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Portfolio piece #10
Have to stop tinkering with this one as it's diminishing returns, hair is right proper difficult. Especially when it has eyeballs in it!
-
@Jason-Crowley Yup, that's what I've always said about hair...

Just before August ends, thought I'd sneak these on here.
A few Jungle Book illustrations for an Instagram challenge, but also for my portfolio (Instagram can be good motivation sometimes).
(Planning to go back and do the title better.)My favourite one:
Did anyone else here join the #bksjunglebook challenge?
