Hi everyone! My name is Tom. I just made the jump to join SVS this past week. My wife and I live in Northern Ireland but I'm originally from Upstate New York.
A little about me: I set down artwork for a long time while working in different spaces but in 2020 a few big things happened in my life that brought me back to it. In addition to the lockdowns, we experienced infant loss as well as covid related deaths in the family. So out of a very hard season, with lots of time stuck in the house, I needed a creative outlet!
The more I got back into art, the more I wanted to hone my craft and work towards professional children's book illustration. It's been a fun venture and joining SVS was the next step for me.
I've been an avid listener of 3PP over the last two years and so excited to learn on here. I've been skipping around on the courses and have loved it! I'm excited to get to meet more folks in this community!

I really like scale in the second illustration. It also looks like you do really well with value in your illustrations.

I've definitely moved ahead and in a healthy spot, I always share that aspect of our story when given opportunity because it's a big part of our lives and something so many folks avoid talking about. Hoping to one day write a children's book about it! Anyways, I'm glad to be a part of this community and grow in my art abilities! Thank you for the reply!

@Tom-Harshberger welcome to SVS and the forum! It's always fun to see new art and faces on here! I'm so sorry for your losses. I can't even imagine what loosing an infant would be like. I admire your openness about it. Life can be so tough, but beautiful too. I came back to art at a tough time in my life too, and it was definitely therapeutic.
