Please clarify right facing character

Just a question to clarify..... I have learned a character should always face to the left of the page what about when it is a right page illustration is the rule the same for all pages, spotsvinettes etc,.. feeling confused

I'm not sure I understand your question. However, as to which way characters should face, I think it really depends on your illustration and the story you're telling. Usually in a children's book it is good to have a illustration "move" left to right because it moves the story along with the text, which is read from left to right. But there are always exceptions. Other than that I know of no rule of which way characters should face in an illustration.

@Sarah-LuAnn , Thank you that helps I was also wondering if you have a book open and the text is on the left page and the illustration is on the right if the charcter was facing left wouldn't that lead you away from the page?
