Hey guys I’m so glad to be drawing again after such a long break! I’ll be sharing my process here and you are welcome to give me feedback on anything! I’ve been wanting to focus more on environment design because it’s not exactly my strong suit, so that’s my main focus this time around.
I decided for my first entry I really wanted to do a race through a graveyard scene, with bunnies on banana seat bikes, not the greatest concept, but I love Halloween sooo, yah. Been watching stranger things also, which gave birth to the bikes. Anyway this is what I’ve got so far, I can’t tell you how many color schemes I went through before landing on this one, and it could very well change again lol I’m still plugging away at the environment but getting closer to wrapping it up, then I can start character design, yay, my favorite part!

@Asyas_illos Oooh, I love this! The colours, the camera angle and the composition are all working really nicely! The only potential issue I can see is, since you drew the finish line, all your rabbit racers will be speeding away from us. Would the banner work better as a starting line instead?

@Meekipink the main characters will be sort of a side shot I plan to have two bunnies on one bike and one will be facing backwards. We’ll see how well I can pull it off though lol. But that could work to I’ll have to think about that, thanks for the feedback!

@Asyas_illos Ahhh, I see! Both ways could easily work, and that extreme path angle helps. If you did decide to go the other way, you could even have rabbit zombies coming from the graves, which could heighten the drama since the rabbits would be racing away from the monsters.
Haha, so many options!! I was sitting here trying to come up with my own ideas and it was pretty overwhelming. I think I've finally got something though, so I'm itching to get started drawing ^_^
But I really like your first idea, too. That would make a great image with the one bunny facing backwards. I'm really curious to see what you come up with!

So I did an alternate sign as ‘start’ and I’ll play with the characters to see how they look coming or going… but I think I’m ready to add characters!

@Asyas_illos I like the idea of having the start line in the distance. I'm thinking it would be good to mirror it so that the action goes left to right. I'm thinking the palette in the 'finish line' version looks like late afternoon or dawn. The palette in the 'start line' version is more like supernatural glow in the background, which is cool.

Still working on the ‘finish’ version I thought these little ghostly buns were a good idea
also I opted for a foot race the bike made it a bit more hectic than I was looking for
