SVS Virtual Studio JULY 2022
-
Hello Rabbits!! I'm heading to the hills so I'm starting the July studio a couple of days early. Don't want my art friends to miss out on sharing awesome July work.
I also want to take a moment to reiterate how awesome the SVS forum is. Everyone is kind and there are no trolls here and it's so refreshing. I hope you all have a wonderfully productive July.
Now...
Just imagine you are walking through a studio, silently looking over people's shoulders at their work...
You know, after years of posting these same words, I just realized something. I think this should say,
Just imagine you are sitting in your open studio while your friends look over your shoulder at your work. Don't hide it, but lean back and share it with them. Us. Your friends. This is NOT a place for critiques. You may applaud, encourage, ooh and ah, only. Relentless kindness.

This is a mood sketch for a story I'm working on. Kiddo is about to have an interesting day.

@burvantill Have a good break and enjoy your time in the hills. I envy your freedom to roam.

This summer I'm working on my first personal project! -> a picture book for my daughters inspired by our journey full time RV-ing. This is a completed inking page from my Grand Canyon spread. I work traditionally with good old fashioned micron pens & watercolor. Time to paint!

Here are some ideas I have drafted, for some teacher-y graphics that I'm working on. They are intended as tools to help educators like me avoid bias in their work. The content is inspired by real experiences and responses/ideas of my colleagues in a workshop that I recently took.
I'm planning to work on the composition and the clarity of the message. My thought is that they could become handouts or posters that I could share with colleagues.

Iβm still working on this lol took some time off β¦ today is the first day Iβve drawn in about three weeks (gasp)!
Making some progress

Here's my 3-hour comic challenge work from Saturday 2nd July. It was great to do, very intense and of course can only be a rough form, getting down ideas and characters and things to develop later if there is a desire to do that.
I drew a sheet of characters and then cut them out and pasted them into boxes and based the writing on the images, let the images speak to me about dreams. Dreamscape was the prompt.

I'm working on a Little Red Riding Hood inspired calendar for 2023, and I'm slowly accumulating all the months. Thought I'd share some of what I have thus far. It'll be on11"x17" double-sided matte photo paper, which I'll print on both sides with my own 8-color Pixma Pro 200 printer. I got a coil ring binder punch and crescent punch for a wire holder.

White silhouettes really seem to work out for sketches for me. it's so fast!

@braydin-hawlette These are great! I love the white figures on that gray background

Some concepting for rabbit road race:
And a fast sketch with leftover paint on my brush from other paintings... I can't stand the thought of wasting paint so I typically make these fast sketches while I create other more finished work:
And this guy popped up in my brain from I don't know where

Think Iβm about done with thisβ¦

rediscovering long lost process.

@Asyas_illos I love this Asya! The way you treated the clouds to add some white space near the edges is really nice!
-
@burvantill Very lovely lighting and colour.

Hello everyone, happy July!
I have been slowly moving myself towards setting up commission work - so many details to work through.
I have certainly found simplifying likeness to be a 'tricky bugger' lols. I started with a simple self portrait and then I moved to a likeness of my mother. This is the result:
Thank you,
Heather
