@stayhomejoe I really like the second one, but I would take down the glow just a bit and show where it would hit as ambient light. The garage, I would suggest needs more mess to embody the disaster.

@angelinakizz thank you for your help. I have a bad eye for seeing my own drawings and rely on other to make quality changes.

@stayhomejoe I like the lighting scenario in the second one but I would also refine it a bit. I think the scene is really cool, maybe emphazise the actually story a bit more, so it is easier to understand what exactly went wrong.

@stayhomejoe the glow of the invention is great but despite it being right in the middle of the image my eye still drifts to the white areas of the image like the locker on the left and the garage door. You could try creating a bit of a vignette to tighten the viewers focus in on the subject as well as making the scene feel a bit more intense with contrast.

Nice traditional style! To really heighten the tension and drama maybe some strong cast shadows from the light source. It might be fun to see the kid’s shadows creeping up the walls.

@stayhomejoe So nice to see traditional art, it looks great. I think the children lack some depth compared to the super dimensional environment, so I'd suggestion adding some more depth (more rounded cuffs, stripes, pockets, etc.) and even exaggerate it a bit . The other thing I would suggest is to flip the canvas. Something looks off and I think if you flip the canvas, you'd have a better idea of what that is.

I flipped it and liquified a little bit.
