New Guy, New Journey

Hi there! Let me begin by saying I'm excited to start this new adventure. My background is in theatre design, including scene design, light design, and costume design. Having just gone through some major life changes personally, I wanted to tackle improving my art and moving towards illustration and concept art, as I find both of those fascinating and a way to explore my creativity without having an entire theatre production going on.
You can find my Behance in my profile, though it is sorely empty as it has not been a focus of mine. I'm hoping to increase my work there through the courses I take and the personal work I plan on doing over the next year. You'll notice some of my stuff is graphic design based, as I freelance in the town that I live in. Anyways, I'm excited to get started on this new journey!

Welcome @Machik! Lots of folks here just starting out in their art journeys so you’re in good company. Your experience reminds me of @Coreyartus, who’s also a specialist in theatre, I believe in costumes If I recall correctly. He’s making beautiful calendars.

Hey, @Machik --I'm a theatre guy, too! I'm also trying to improve on my art, & still struggling to pin myself down. Message me if you'd like to chat! Believe it or not, having a background in theatre design can be both a unique blessing and a frustrating curse when it comes to illustration... hehe... At least it has been for me.
You're among friends here, so don't hesitate to share--they offer awesome advice with honesty and integrity, and the community and classes can be life-changing if you lean into them. I'm learning that more and more theatre folk are starting to exploit their talents in different directions (thank-you, global Covid shutdown) even in my immediate circle out here in San Diego, so you are far from alone in that instinct.
