In my illustration Alfred is walking into the class for the very first time and gets an unexpected surprise. His teacher is a panda too! The other kids are scared of her but for Alfred it is love at first sight.

Does this initial study communicate the story? Do you think it’s enough storytelling?

I really like the concept and the expression you are showing.

I'm not sure how much help I can be but here is my two cents:

        • The image feels cramped to me, would it be possible to make it landscape instead to give things more room to breathe?
        • Currently without you telling me I find it hard to know the adult panda is the teacher. Maybe move her behind a desk or put a pencil in her bow, something to show she is a teacher?
        • If the kids are scared of Ms Wu are the fine standing in the same doorway as Alfred? (if they are then I find the kids in the doorway very appealing since they are unwilling to even enter the classroom.)

        I hope this helps.

Here is the mostly finished work. What do ya think?

Critiques welcome. Some affirmation would be nice, too.
