MAY CONTEST: Fairy Tale Traveler situation
Hi all! Let's keep the tradition of posting the final contest images here on the Forum
You'll still need to upload them to the Critique Arena website to officially enter the contest, but we'd love it if you post here too so we can all see and comment on your beautiful work!
If you haven't already checked out the May prompt, your mission is to draw our Fairy Tale Traveler in an environment, in a situation.
The enemy is coming down the road and now our traveler must decide whether to face the adversary, flee or hide. How will our traveler get out of this situation??
In March, we designed a Fairy Tale Traveler. In April, we designed an inn for our weary traveler to sleep for the night. And this month, we are creating a full page illustration featuring our traveler.
For this challenge, the image must be a full page illustration, and the dimensions must be 9.5 inches high x 10.5 inches wide.
Just to clarify: don't worry if you haven't submitted in the previous Fairy Tale Traveler contests, you can still do this prompt! Just treat it as if it's a stand alone prompt
Good luck everyone!

@LisaF Hello. Are we supposed to post our submissions and progress here, rather than in our own thread?
Had a couple of ideas that I really liked so I went with them both. Couple of situations where Kit and Kappy are in the soup!

@Janette This is how we used to enter submissions and it was a nice way to see all of the entries in one place.
This is usually more of a final submission thread with process getting its own thread, but it’s probably changed/changing with official submissions now on a separate website.
@Kevin-Treaccar Ah, ok, cool. Thank you
@jdubz This definitely up there with my favourites! I love the different expressions. You can totally imagine what each character is thinking and feeling. Lovely work.

OK, So here's the final piece. I just submitted it, so no going back now!!!!
I'm thinking about doing another version in a different style, because ... I haven't got enough to do this week already! lol

@chrisaakins So fun! It's really interesting to see how you handled the threat of an army in two totally different styles. The profile of that orc is especially striking.
@Asyas_illos You're so prolific! I can barely get one entry ready, much less 4 awesome ones. My favorite is definitely the nod to Alice in Wonderland. It has great storytelling and I love the color palette you chose.
@SheerArt Great movement. I hope this works out for the little guy! I wish I could see this animated to see how it ends. haha
@Joe-Koz I'm not worried for the warrior but that little farmer type guy should maaaybe consider "flight" instead of "fight." lol! It really feels like an ambush though - those goblins are super menacing.
@Moana-Maureen So magical. Using the shadow to reveal the bad guy is brilliant. I also love the textures in your piece!
@jdubz I feel like every character has its own personality - so hard to do when you have groups of similar characters. Really fun!
@Janette Really cute! I was not expecting the traveler's color palette from your sketches - what a fun surprise. Really smart to have her hair glowing so that she's not just in a dark hole in the ground.

@jdubz I love both of them but the second one is genius! Very well done.
