April Inn, to mouse or not to mouse?

I like the mouse, it adds an additional layer of storytelling to the image. Super adorable, I especially love the horns with the tiny rope and bird. So many fun and intricate details.

@Tiffany-Thomas thank you! I was overthinking the birds size vs the birds then I remembered in Narnia they visited some beavers that were people size. Fairy tales, after all lol

@HeatherBouteneff yeah I get it, it's hard not to get caught up in the "rules" but sometimes you just need to do what works best for the actual image and not worry about it ;).

I love the one with the mouse! Burnt cookies, I've done that! The ribbons in this are wonderful. The mouth...so clever to have the ribbons and banner look like chewing grass and a tongue. So much detail...you must have a great story in mind.

@RachelArmington I wish I had a story lol! I was just thinking of my graphic novel project where the Inn is run by a Buffalo gal and horse-alligator and all these fairy tale versions of the Americana terms I had researched that I loved. Then I went to a garden store and this idea was locked in. I also have been trying to get my family to go to Woolaroc with me so I have bisons on the brain.
I had planned on it being simple but I was having fun using some of the “cheesy” brushes that I always thought were off limits like leaves and smoke.

@HeatherBouteneff The textures are great...are they from the "cheesy" brushes? I've been using Photoshop, which has a few texture brushes, but I mostly use two of my own that I made from watercolor paper.

I looked up Woolaroc...it sounds like a cool place.

@RachelArmington yeah I used the leaves, flowers and smoke brushes as well as stucco. I did have to draw a lot of leaves anyway but it was really fun to go crazy with those a bit
