April Inn WIP
-
First I wanted to do a cutaway, with the main character moving through the cutaway building and having little story moments. But I'm noooooooooot quite up to the skill level to pull that off (especially in a small square format).
So then I did an outdoor view of the original building design (an inn buried in a glacier with a hotspring). But that was kinda boring, because you couldn't SEE the cool stuff like the hotspring.
So I decided to take some inspiration from all the pit houses I got to draw for a client a few years ago! I'm seeking inspiration from a local first nation's style pithouse with an A-frame inn with a hotspring in the middle.
Tried an isometric perspective, then decided to redesign with an honest-to-gosh perspective grid.
Still need to name it, but I like it so far!
WIP trail of changes as follows
-
Looks awesome per usual love the shape

@Asyas_illos Thanks Octagon for the win!

After that will be patrons and furniture and such!
How's the lettering look?

Cool! If it's legible I'm happy
-
@Braden-Hallett did you hand letter it or is it a font after looking at it again the latter half appears a little more bold, but this could just the the letters themselves, oh I just realized this was probably intentional lol

Wish I was there chillin that hot pool
-
@Braden-Hallett Um.. I want to stay here. LOL
-
@Braden-Hallett Love the simplicity of your colouring.so effective! If I were you , I d seriously consider putting a fat belly fella floating in the middle of the spring, enjoying his time... Can t wait to see the final !
-
I can definitely see the kids that live nearby running in and stealing the warm clothes of customers in the hot bath. And doing so often...

You have yet to see it occupied by grotty seal hunters fresh off the glacier after months of hard travel, lol

Oh my gosh yes! They can scurry up the roof (since it's ground level with the snow) and then slide down the A frame building. Then they can stealthily mooch about until they see a particularly fancy seal skin cape then dash past the sleeping doorman back into the snow.
At which point they may freeze to death since they'd be all covered in moisture from the steam, lol.

@Braden-Hallett eew. The OG Mulan swim scene just played in my mind. Hahaha
