SUPERSTITION WIP Be brave...

I just watched a movie on Netflix that had a scene where children were being evacuated from the island of Guernsey prior to invasion by the Germans in WWII. It was really moving.
In a different take on SUPERSTITION,
I wanted to capture the idea of a mom pinning a medal on her son to give him bravery as he faces going away from all he's known to a strange place. I want to capture the drama and undercurrents of sadness and courage of the British people of this period. Is it reading well so far in it's very undeveloped sketch? .

Started work on the background. I think I am going to play to my strengths and do this traditionally and then scan it in and tweak it digitally. I am just much more comfortable with color pencils and markers. !
