Just introducing myself 
A few months ago, i had this wonderful opportunity to take a break from borring work in finance and started my gap year:) I devoted my break to develop my rusty art skills. I am hoping to never come back to finance... For this I need a community to help me develop in art. And so i am here, very excited to meet you guys:)

@aska Welcome to the forums! A gap year sounds nice. I hope you can reach all your goals. Set your self some bench marks to reach so you can see the progress you are making.

@Chip-Valecek Good talk It's good to set goals. Thats why I am trying to take part in some competitions. Mostly for deadlines, as I realise I am not at the right level yet. Also I promised one or two books to my kids. I really want to use my gap year well, which BTW is awesome
Aska I know what you mean about being nervous showing art in this forum I feel the same,everyone is so professional ,I only do Deviant art and Artstation at the minute.I have only been here about 6 weeks ,but I can see a big difference in my art by following the videos,so good luck you will get more confident.

Deviant art is when you spend 3 days on a painting ,and a childs scribble or some awful porn get more faves than yours lol,still it is fun you should join there are some nice people there.

That is an accurate description of Deviantart. I've met some awesome friends there, but sifting through the junk makes it kinda unfun to hang out and browse.
