@Jeremy-Ross Thank you! You've got amazing art yourself. And yeah, thats why I'm here, to do the assignments. But in between I'm happy when I have a commission, because it pays the course haha

@Mel-F Love the little splashes of yellow!

I recently completed my 2023 Folktale Week series of illustrations. I chose to do them more in the vein of Lee White's "Slovember" approach, and really took my time with each one. I also used the key words to help flesh out the trajectory of the story I'm developing, which is an adaptation of Little Red Riding Hood heavily inspired by the folktale but nothing like it. How's that for vague? LOL!
This year's words (Lost, Ink, Underground, Sleep, Sea, Illusion, and Found) fundamentally helped me flesh out the story, too, and I got a LOT of writing and development done on the project, which in turn inspired yet more imagery... So even though the event was technically in November, I'm still working with the ramifications of the inspirational directions it led me toward.
I really enjoyed the experience of "exploring" the story through visual imagery, and letting imagery lead to text. Some of these aren't going to work at all, but they were useful tools in the process. It has been a great experience thus far.

I'm looking into deepdiving into the fundamentals of art. I've got quite a journey already, but I bump into issues when drawing anatomy, color and values. So I thought. Lets start the lessons on SVS learn. So here I am (since november last year).
So thats my resolution for the coming year. Finish the course ! I hope. or at least come pretty far with it
.
Anyway, what I've been working on last week: A commission for a friend. A pandaren from the world of warcraft realms, but with a twist. She ran into some nasty gnomes that needed to experiment on someone... and well, she needed the money.
Let me know what you think

Welcome @Avondrood-art ! Thereβs lots to learn here on SVS, but the key is doing the assignments and posting your work in the forum.

Here is a bit of an image dump. Been really busy working on some creature concepts for a client and found out recently my wife and I will have a booth again at Emerald City Comic Con so I'm scrambling to create something new for that. It will be a part 2 to my "The Oddities of Evergroan Manor" book I did for my first comic con. I'll post stuff from that soon.
Other than that, I've been a bit quite here so I'm hoping to dive back in a bit and be more active. Anyway, here are some mindless noodles and doodles from recently that helps keep my brain creative and relaxed.

Thank you for your kind words @Avondrood-art !

@Mel-F
I love anything with bats! And the pops of yellow in grey scale which I also like a lot too are really wonderful. I love a fun, messy, goofy looking dogo. So fun! -
Hello everyone,
My goal for the new year is to keep up with my writing goals and to continue to design and refine my characters for several stories I am working on.
One of my stories is about a little Pug.
Here are two character designs I created for Rubeous but I am struggling with the one I like the most.
I do have plans to pitch this story at some point as an author/ illustrator.
Any critiques, comments, and suggestions are welcome! -
Just look at that gorgeous cast shadow!
Hey there fellow rabbits! Its been a while since I checked in on y'all. Glad to see the Virtual Studio is still going strong.
I've been working on a graphic novel. I have finished the story and am now starting the art.
After removing some kryptonite that was causing an art block in my process, I am happy to say that i am back in full power!.
This is fifth and final FIRST panel of my story Kiddo Green and the 3 Pearls.
