Here's a page from my sketchbook that I filled on Saturday while out in the wilds of Somerset with my drawing buddy. (By "wild" I mean we sat at an outside table of the café.)

Lately I've been in the mode of "I gotta make something for a purpose" which has really been draining my creativity... I started painting acrobats with spare paper and watercolors simply because I enjoy it and it's been so refreshing to create just for the joy of it.

@AjugaBee Yes, I know that feeling! Too much pressure. That's why I'm taking a break from Instagram for a while - I felt that everything had to be Instagram-worthy.

I am trying to do some of the MerMay 2023 prompts this year. I always think about doing it every year, but haven't done it until this year. I am just picking a few of the prompts to do. Today's prompt is #StarWars, so I did the R2D2 and Princess Leia scene since Carrie Fisher is getting her star on the Hollywood walk of fame today. May the 4th be with you!
After a therapy session this week, my therapist asked me "do you make the art you want to or what you think you "should"?" That stood out to me so I'm diving back into landscapes and animal drawings. This summer I'll be taking some courses at CSU Monterey Bay around scientific illustration as well so hopefully all of these things will get me out of my funk I've been in for two years.
I have a whole list of ideas for illustrations that I haven’t started yet. Usually I pick one and go from start to finish. However, I’m trying something different where I do sketches of all of them first, then decide which ones I want to finish.
I really tried to do an actual inked drawing for May the 4th, but I’m still not happy with the underlying drawing/anatomy/proportions. Oh well—It was a good effort for today.
