Usage rights special case

Hello all! Writing again after a long while ... I am currently working on a project which kept me away from social media and forums I had liked to share some progress earlier, but the deadline was short ... I'm doing the illustrations as well as the layout for a school book for nigerian third graders. Waiting for feedback from the company right now, so there's time to take a breath.
There's no contract yet and they are basically waiting for me to decide for the usage rights for the illustrations. They have little money, of cause, and they had worked with a nigerian illustrator before who hadn't claimed any usage rights. The company/publisher is based in UK. But the Nigerian government is paying the project. Product solely sells in Nigeria this year, but certainly will expand to other african countries in the future. There are 10 spot ilsutrations, 2 full page illustrations (all b/w), and a cover (color).
I don't know what would be appropriate. I've checked for usage rights which are common in western countries, but how about Africa? I havn't found any clue. Anybody has got an idea?
(I've put some illustrations into the march virtual studio) -
@Meta Illustrator, Lisa Maltby came up with a survey about this confusing subject. Might be useful for you. She is based in the UK.

@Meta I'm not convinced that usage rights should be any different if the project is in Africa rather than Europe or America. Go with an industry standard that you are comfortable with. Consider that they are planning to expand to distribution in many different countries in your proposal. But I'd do it fast if I were you. This is delaying your contract, and all the work you're doing now, you're doing it completely unprotected.

Tanks for your input so far!

No, I'm not. I'm not based in the UK and will probably become a member in IO (German). They also do help with contracts, but I fear I'll have to postpone my membership until I can afford it.
Thank you for the links! I already knew the second one, but didn't find response there for my case.

I am not worried about delaying the contract because the project is run by a friend of mine whom I trust. But it doesn't make it easier to set a fee
I was writing messages with her today to get some more details. She wrote: "We are likley to print thousands of books (like 100 000) but all are printed at cost price with 0 profit as this is a charity initiative. We make 0 from the printing of the books and we put 'not for sale' on them/ Selling them would be another matter. I guess so we would probably need a rule for each. Though we have no plan to sell" and "we plan to print at 60 cents per book (euro price) or less hopefully".
Whoa ... I didn't know this would be so big! Any advice?
