Hey, I know this introduction is a bit late, since I jumped into the forums feet first, so to speak. But I thought I might give some of my back story/where I'm coming from.

I'm an older student (currently work full time for a bank), and I've been working on art off and on for many years, and taken classes online and off. (1 CGMA class, I was subscribed to Imaginism for a year). But until recently, I was always looking for the short cut to "being awesome" rather than working to hone my skills.

Fortunately this year I stumbled across Cal Newports "So Good They Can't Ignore You" book, which puts out the substantial difference between going after your passion (which can land you in deep trouble) and putting in the time and effort to develop craftsmanship. (Which is a lot slower, but a lot more productive). The book had the dual effect of helping me resolve my love-hate relationship with my current job (which has plenty of perks, especially since I've been with my company for a while), and helping me realize that I didn't just want to "be awesome," I wanted to develop some skills.

So, I'm here to hone my drawing skills, connect the dots between all the courses I've taken previously, and hopefully aim myself in a new direction. As for where I want to go with this . . . I'm not sure, yet. I know I want to do more story-driven art, and I've always loved "making up" stuff--creating new worlds, etc. And I have a deep love for sci-fi, fantasy, steampunk, and stuff along those lines.

Anywho, as a way to further introduce myself, let me drop a sample of what I've done. Some older, but some that I've done more recently during inktober or as a part of classes I'm taking here. (Keep in mind that some of this is very old)

@JoannaH Welcome, it is great to have you here.

I like the dragon. I believe I am drawn to it because you used value in it so well.

Good luck, I hear you on just wanting to be awesome but you only really get there by learning the craft...
