'Superstition' Process
-
Hey guys! Just doing a threat for this month's contest in case anyone has some feedback to throw in, which is as always much appreciated.
I am considering a few topics. For now, I have worked up a sketch I quite like for this one, after doing two thumbnails:"It is an old English superstition that a child riding on the back of a bear will be protected from whooping cough. "
It's a bit of an obscure one, so I might try a few different topics, but I still want to finish this one because I like the drawing so far. What a strange superstition though! How rarely would they ever have been able to act on it? Perhaps it came about as a way to give parents an obscure way to treat and protect their child when it was in fact rather hopeless. Or maybe back then a spirit bear walked from village to village inviting ill children onto its back. I prefer that.

@Nathalie-Kranich Hi Nelly, this is nice superstition and also Your sketch, maybe I would make the bear with the kid little bit bigger, maybe also the women could do this one hand reaching symbol for "missing come back I will never see yxou again?", like open fingers, hand streched out, if you know what I mean. So that as composition the mother is pointing with the hand to the main point. The man behind looks like doing his chores, I would like to see him interacting with the scene. And missing the behind leg, maybe some hint of it.

I think you're right, a reaching hand would be a good calL! I'll incorperate that. I'll have to have a think about characters further in the back

Just some minor changes to go, then I shall consider this finished! After some valuable feedback from people on the discord, I've taken out the tower and the noticeable tree and freed up the space a bit. Might add in a much less noticeable tree to finish it off, try to lead the eye to the mother more strongly again.

It looks really good after the changes.
