Ailantan work in progress tread
-
Hey, It's Natalia here, i would like to show my little thumbnail.
My idea was monster under the bed, which is repairing toys left on floor.
Im gonna change design of monster i think, cause i was thinking about more shadowy presence with more arms.
Feedback always welcome.
-
Cool idea! Are you looking for feedback? If not that's totally fine. Just wondering.
-
@tessaw Yes, Im looking for feedback
-
@ailantan hi! What a fun idea! Love your concept! It does feel like itβs leaning a bit to the left. Donβt know if thatβs with purpose or not? Also, the bed looks a bit small and thin with such a big monster underneath it.
-
Hi there! Love the concept! Wondering if there's a reason for the symmetry? I feel as if it would flow better if you kept the bed where it is and maybe the tent. But shift the kid to the left, and the monster to the bottom right, and it might create a natural flow down the page. Maybe the kid is in profile so we can better see how they are scrunched up scared? I already really like how you naturally have this feeling at the top of something is wrong, but then at the bottom this surprising and pleasant payoff with the monster fixing toys. I'm excited to see the next steps on this piece!

After watching creative composition i decided to make some more thumbnails. Feedback is alwazs welcome.

If I were to choose one thing that improved my art the most it would be due diligence with the thumbnails.
Nice work so far. I'm intrigued by #6
-
For number #6 It's monster mix of horns, owl, fur and moth antennae.
When I look at it now I don't think like that I would show it to any kid xD But it was fun to draw. I will try one of the first thumbnails with rooms now.

Hi there,
Really lovely idea about a monster who fixes broken toys, it reminds me of the John Lewis 'Moz the Monster' advert, definitely worth a watch on Youtube for inspiration if you haven't seen it!
Looking at your thumbnails, I really like the feel of #1 with the lighting coming through the window and the arms of the monster under the bed. I think you could really do a lot with this, especially as we can see more of how scared the child is. It also gives you a bit more room in the composition to show more of the monster fixing toys.
Also #3 is a nice composition too, maybe the child in the tent has a torch so you could create some nice lighting and silhouettes there.Looking forward to seeing where you take this next

@ailantan said in Misunderstood Monster WiP:
I like the first three thumbnails.
-
For #1 one . I not that great with drawing, but i try. Digital i hard to get used to
-
I like the first two concepts best. The second one might let you get a better view of the monster, but if you go with the first one it would be cool if you made the little kid peeking out of its covers at this shadow-thing fixing the toys.
-
@twiggyt Thanks!
I think that nice idea with peeking behind covers, i will try it

During Misunderstood monster i figured i dont know how to design rooms. I didn't really hit mark with them. I will post sketches, prompts and drawings here. Hope everyone slowtober coming up slowly :DDDD

This room is from thumbnail i was drawing for misunderstood monster themed month, but haven't finished then. Im wondering if values and composition is alright in here. If anyone want to comment, please feel free to do so

Hi again! I took me some time to draw this piece, but its one of my fav pieces i worked on in a while. This kid is super strong girl named Abby , she is crushing a toy of her superhero enemy. When i forst drawn it, it was pointed to me i messed up on length of her left arm, so did change that and hope it looks alright
I also got feedback on my previous black and white picture, there are tangens on left side where ball is and toy snake, and there seems to be a little disbalance of thing where most of foreground clutter is on left. So i will be ajusting that, and then working on coloring it.
