Potter Kids Redo
-
I started doing a series of "Harry Potter" wannabe kids for some practice some time ago and have decided to revisit the project focusing more on the character designs for my portfolio.
Just finished the first one which will be paired with a "Voldemort" character when that is done.

@Gary-Wilkinson LOVE this! Your style is so cute

@MiaNova @ksfabian Thank you. I really appreciate the comments I like to try keep things cute and colorful.
Thought you might like to see what the previous version of this was. The reason that I decided to redo it was that I didn't feel it required a background, but also I wanted it to fit closer to the Harry Potter theme by using the house colors and adding a bit more variety to the character design. Currently working on Draco next which should be finished shortly

So with the old "Draco" boy I didn't feel like he was so recognisable as being similar to the character, so with the new update I changed his hair and tried to make him a little bit more of a bully in his expression. I also tried to keep to the Slytherin colors where I could.

@Gary-Wilkinson it looks so awesome. Love the girl's pj's under her Hogwarts robe and the bolt she drew on her forehead. I miss her dark rimmed glasses in the second version. With Draco it is much clearer with the hair and colours and the glasses on the bear really make it clear he's bullying Harry. Though it still needs a little context. The facial expression of the black and white one seemed more mean. The colour version seems more excited. I think it's a great take on the Harry Potter theme!

Hey Gary, Just visiting your website and just had to compliment you, you are such an inspiration to me. You create characters with such wonderful personalities and your rendering is just just ....wow. You're caricatures or top notch. Keep up the excellent creating!

@Larue Thank you for the comments. It's such an honor to hear I can inspire
@Chantal-Goetheer I know what you mean about the Draco smile. With the update I was thinking more about how bullies make fun of, or laugh at their targets, I do understand what you mean though. With the next character I wanted to try something Dobby like, as though the girl was using the shopping bag for her costume, and perhaps having a small nibble in the process. I was thinking to put some shop logo or text on the bag, but couldn't really think of anything good (it's almost 2am so i'm out of ideas)

@Gary-Wilkinson they are all so charming. For the grocery bag dress, could you have the supermarket logo (or a fake one) on it? It didn't read clearly as a grocery bag to me. I thought it was just a tattered dress and her munching some bread if I didn't read your text
